ACRG Collaboration with the Department of Classics, Cambridge
I have recently completed some work with Dr Rebecca Flemming in the hope of a future collaboration between ACRG and the department of Classics at the University of Cambridge. The work that I have completed relates to the laser scanning of Roman anatomical votive terracottas. The work is in its early stages but I have included some images of the three dimensional models that I have created from the recent laser scan work on objects that are similar in shape and size.
The body of material is often quite hard to pin down in terms of date, provenance, and relations between different groups of finds and it is hoped that the use of our computational techniques that we use within our research group will help move this study on in quite a dramatic way through a systematic and scientific comparison based on certain key dimensions or other features between the terracottas.
It is hoped, when the project has been finalised, that we will be able to contribute to the study through our expertise in laser scanning, RTI, Computed tomography, Virtual Reconstructions and Polychrome representation
